The skills, knowledge and competencies within this specification focus on raising the candidates’ awareness and promoting the use of communication skills.

Course Content

The learning outcomes agreed for this specification are presented in one module.

This module has three sections as follows:

• Legislation
  Learning outcomes are designed to enable candidates provide an overview of law and best practise relevant to the jurisdiction.
• Theory and Best Practice
  Learning outcomes are designed to enable candidates gain an insight into theories of, and be familiar with methods of, assessing and analysing suspicious persons or circumstances.
• Stay Safe Skills

Learning outcomes are designed to enable candidates become familiar with the practical and physical aspects of approaching and dealing with potential risks to personal safety and security.

Assessment of this module is in two parts – practical skills demonstrations and a written examination. There are two skills demonstrations to be completed. The written examination is made up of twenty questions of which all must be attempted. All three elements must be successfully completed to achieve a Security Institute Statement of Achievement in Security Awareness Skills.

Certification

Successful completion leads to a Security Institute of Ireland Statement of Achievement in Security Awareness Skills

Cost

The course fee is €150 per person. This includes all examination fees and certification.

Tea / coffee and a light lunch are provided. Group rates are available and the course may be delivered in-house
